I have in the last few weeks been called a bum cause I have been laid off from my job.Also I have been called an embarrassment to a close family members friends for asking for help. Another close family member told me I should not be a taker like Satan, but I don't know what else to do but to ask my family and friends for help. There was a time that when a friend or family member was down on their luck people came out of the woodwork to offer help, but now a days you just have to bury your pride in a small box in the yard and ASK. You know I worked since I was 15 years old, I got hurt in October 2007 and have yet to fully recover, I did manage to get back to work for 8 months however, and then got laid off because of the economy. So I am going to ask for help, in whatever amount you can help, and if people wanna make me feel like a bum for doing so, so be it, that is the price I will have to pay to try and get through this very difficult time in my life!

I have looked everywhere I can for work, but it is impossible right now to even get a fast food job. My lights were off for 2 days this past week and only cause a family member loaned me the money for a few days was I able to get it cut back on. I have asked for help from the Salvation Army and United Way and both are out of funds! My vehicle is on the verge of being reposed. My property is on the verge of being auctioned for $200 in back taxes. I have totally defaulted on my credit cards and can't even buy food for the house. My house and cell phone is off due to non payment and that is very bad cause all my applications and resumes for work have those numbers listed. So it affects my getting employment. Hell, I can't even afford gas most days to go out and look for work. I feel helpless, scared, alone and depressed to the point of not being able to breathe. Okay. First off I know my needs are not as great as others. But this is very important to me. I'm 21 years old. living out of my home in a differnt state going to college. and my phone had just been turned off. So i'm only not able to recieve calls not send them. this is very scary for me because if something happens I will not be able to contact anybody for 2 weeks. and living out of state does not make this easy. I'm not asking for much. just enough to make a min. payment. thank you so much to anyone that reads this.

I just applied for one of these for my brother.  He's diabetic and without a phone which is very necessary for him to have since he can go low real quick.  It's a basic tracphone and they put 68mins a month on it.  It's all totally free and basically a good phone to have for emergency situations.  It's not available in all states yet but they are expanding to new states all the time.  Just a few months ago you couldn't get one in NY but now you can.

As my nickname indicates I am a lady truck driver.  Last year I was out for 8 months before going to what used to be my home. I discovered someone had gone inside and stole everything of value. I USED to have guitars, keyboards, amplifiers, TV's, computer, dvd players, vcr players, about 100 music CD's if not more and a lot of other stuff. All of it was gone. I only had my "personal" stuff left. Some clothes, family pictures, the stuff in my kitchen, etc. I was able after a couple of months to go back and put what was left in a storage unit. I went from being able to fill to capacity a 10X20 storage unit, now I have a 10 X 10 with room left over. My biggest problem right now is I no longer have a home. The rent where I used to be got way behind and I had no other choice but to put what was left in storage. Because of the economy and lack of freight I am currently in deficit and often do not have enough money to even buy decent food. To complicate matters I have 3 large dogs and of course buy their food first, then whatever is left I get myself whatever I can manage to get. I have to fight to even get a $60 advance and with that I am suposed to buy dog food, my food, wash clothes and get any personal items I absolutely need. What I crave most right now is to be able to eat something besides Ramen Noodle and sandwiches! Even a simple $1 hamburger would be a real treat! I am engaed to a wonderful man but he is on a fixed income and has for the last 2 months paid my phone bill which includes my internet but he is tapped out and can no longer help. This is the most important thing to me as I can keep in touch with my daughter that is facing 2 surgeries with the first being Apr 30, my fiance has a sister that is not expected to live much longer, a mother that has recently been put under hospice care and a grandson with disabilities. If I were to loose my phone I would be totally lost. I also use my phone for directions and internet for weather, so it is not just for "fun" and entertainment, it is an extremely important tool for my job. I seriously am worried that on March 6th that I will not have the funds for my phone and will loose it. I will be totally devistated if this happens as I will not only loose contact with those important to me I will also have no way to call shippers and recievers for help if the directions I get from the company are bad which happens way too much! PS....I have 2 grandchildren who both have birthdays Apr 22 and I have nothing to offer them.

I'm writing to ask for help paying a phone bill. My husband has been unemployed since, just after xmas, and we are really struggling. He has applied for over 60 jobs, but with the recession, no one is hiring. Anyone that is gets flooded with applications and we have only gotten one call! Without a phone, there will be no way for employers to get ahold of him if they do want an interview. We have 3 children to support and I am really starting to worry. I try to stay positive and I hope and pray that something will come along, but it just doesn't seem to be working. Any help would be appreciated, and re-paid if need be! Thanks for looking!

Well, I received a letter from the SSA, a copy of one sent to my representative (Congress), nothing substantive though.  My water was paid by my wonderful mother-in-law, this time - she is very short on money, though, especially now with the credit meltdown.  I hope I get the natural gas turned on soon, not sure how I will finance it though.  And I am not sure how to get electric and phone paid.  I really need help, someone to adopt my family so that we can survive until the SSA approves and starts my benefits - I can even treat it as a loan, because I will get enough monthly and in back pay to easily pay someone back.  Then there is Christmas - looking realllllly skinny right now.
